Why do men seem to age so much better than women? Is it the relative lack of makeup they use compared to women or is society skewed in viewing only younger women as conventionally attractive?

Men store their body fat in their torsos. Like, in with all the organs. Women store it on the outside of their bodies, top-to-bottom. Even on their faces.
This expedites the sagging process.
So, if you see a man who was never a fat-fuck... he "aged gracefully" because even if his skin is fucked up, there isn't added weight and padding dragging it down.

Sexual cues: men are designed to find fertile women attractive, and old women generally aren't fertile.
Men are still fertile when old, so it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective for women to still find them somewhat attractive.
In a pinch, if all the other men are dead, this old guy can still get you pregnant. There's no real reason for a 20 year old guy to fuck an 80 year old woman.
So women talk about how hot george clooney is, this influences society. Men don't talk about how hot betty white is. One becomes attractive, even to men, the other doesn't.

Seeing young people as more attractive is a genetic trait and will always be.
For women this is 10 times more relvant because it's directly related to fertility, which is what our DNA actively tells us to search for.
A 55 years old man can have children as easily as an 18 years old and his age has pretty much zero impact on the child's health, while it's been medically recognized that a woman older than 35 has already too much of a chance of a fucked up birth for it to be worth trying.
Women are viewed as attractive when they're young because they're at the peak of their fertility. Generally a 40 year old woman is barely fertile and therefore unattractive.
However men are still fertile when older, and also more mature and usually have a stable income, won't go looking for thrills etc', so they're better able to provide for a family.
