Why didn't they just bring back the Maguire/Raimi Spider-Man for Civil War?
The Holland kid was cool, but did we really need a third Spider-Man? Why not just bring back the OG Spidey.

Coulda worked. Spider-Man would have been the second super hero after Captain America before Iron Man. Maybe Fury tried to contact Peter before the Avengers because he knew he was Spider-Man but Peter gave it up or something.
JK Simmons Jameson could have been back. This Spider-Man could have fought in the Civil War and be featured in a proper Spider-Man 4/Infinity Wars.
Maybe Peter works with Pym or Stark (pic related) or Banner.

The first Raimi Spider-Man was on the mark. it was fun it was close to comic book canon. It felt good to watch. Then 2 and 3 came. 2 was alright but too much drama, 3 was just shit. 3 was Raimi and the writers trying to cram two movies into one and make the movie more kitsch than a good action movie. Not to mention really bad casting for the villains.
Then the Sony reboots. They tried to capture lightning in the bottle and retread the origin story which was dumb because at this point everyone and their mother knows the origin of Spider-Man and they brought nothing new to it. It was a hohum reboot. Then Amazing Spider-Man 2 came and it was just a pile of shit. Poor casting, poor pacing, poor character development, all the good shit this movie could have offered was all in the concept art and supposed teases for the next film.
The reason why Marvel is starting fresh is because Sony cut a deal with them to co-produce a new Spider-Man movie.
They don't want a flawed first go around or a hastily made reboot to work with they want something they can put their own Marvel spin on and hopefully Sony won't pull rank because they still own the movie rights and have final say in the upcoming film.
Because Raimi Spider-Man was shit and a disservice to the character.

This is /tv/, not /co/. None of the movies are accurate to the comics. This includes Burton Batman, Nolan Batman, Singer's X-Men, and even early films from the MCU.
Stark is literally just Robert Downey Jr. Playing himself. A far cry from the Vietnam era Tony Stark from the comics.
Raimi made great comic to film adaptations and most certainly did Spider-Man justice. No revisionist history will change that.
