There is literally no reason you should have taken this long to get an HD monitor. Monitors are way cheaper than TVs and even HDTVs have been dirt cheap for like a decade now. 2560x1600 monitors have been the standard for YEARS now and you're just now "upgrading" to 1920x1080?
Literally no excuse. If you've been able to afford an internet connection over the years you could have put a few bucks aside each week or month and bought a 4k monitor, let alone fucking 1080p.

not him but I would wait until movies start being released in 4k. right now unless you play video games all you're going to be doing with it is upscaling 1080 content. while you're waiting to buy your new screen the prices will go down and the build quality and features will only get better.
