How come Poe Dameron said he was just in sanitation in the first order but at the start of the movie it shows him as a stormtrooper in the battle in the village?

He (Finn, not Poe Dameron) his job on Starkiller base was sanitation. When he was stationed on Starkilled Base. Later he was a stormtrooper, hence it was his first mission.
