Actually this is based on the fucking ANCIENT Chinese legend of Fu-Mulan.
She goes to war to save to aging father form the draft, becomes a badass swordsman and exemplary soldier until the war is won. Then returns home to her arranged marriage and puts aside all remembrances of her former life, gifting her sword and armor to her son.
It is a story about duty to your family and country, not modern feminist propaganda.
