I think Euron's casting was fine, they have to commit to making the Greyjoys looking like a family of homeless chavs.
I don't think any actor could have redeemed that terrible introduction scene though, everything about that scene was just off, even the sound editing was terrible, two actors lazily talking quotes muffled under heavy rain, better yet, lets have the scene be really dark so you can't entirely make out who this mysterious new character is but also have him explain exactly who he is and then follow with a "whodunnit" scene. Bravo.
