Key scenes with him are done from his POV, it's a little odd at first but I thought it was really neat workaround. That said Akkad got into a lot of trouble anyways, the Saudi's were furious and were trying to get the production canned, because they still saw it has idolatry.

Yes, it's very good. Personally I think it's in Arabic with subs, but they did all the scenes in Arabic and English for a better western reception. So if you feel like watching it with a Lawrence of Arabia or Khartoum vibe, the English one is good.

You must not have been paying attention then, because there were no Christians in it. It's about an emissary from the Abbassid Caliphate in Baghdad being sent into the heart of Pagan Scandinavia with Norse warriors. There would have been no doubt the Arab was of a more civilized nature than the Norse warriors. Personally that's why I liked the movie, it did the whole 'civilized man comes to meet and befriend the noble savages' shtick, but the perspective is flipped.
