Zimmer was on point with this score. Saved by that oragn player though

Annoyed me when he went into the black hole only to reveal it was a fucking Tessaract inside it which allowed him to convey binary information to a pocket watch which wouldn't happen as time travelers cannot interact with anything in the past, anything.

And you use closed timeline curves, not black holes you fucking retards.

DON'T YOU START YOUR SHIT WITH ME I KILL YOU!
>>
>>69099736

It was super technology from the future that allowed him to do that. They can do whatever they want lol
>>
>>69099767
Time is constructed in a way that has rules, it's not as fluid as you or film makers think, time literally protects itself with paradoxes to prevent the past being altered or changed at all.

A traveler can only observe, they cannot be seen, they cannot interact, they cannot be heard, they cannot convey any information at all within the time period they travel to as their current version doesn't exist.

Even if I go back 10 minutes and try to stop myself from fucking your mother, I can't.

That's what annoyed me about this film, and the fact the super heated accretion disk around gargantua didn't vaporise the crew.

Don't you get me started now. DON'T YOU GO THERE WITH ME!
>>
>>69099736
>time travelers cannot interact with anything in the past, anything.
if you're talking about the grandfather paradox all that would mean is some things wouldn't happen, like every time they tried to shoot their grandfather the gun would jam etc.

from where Damon goes mental to the dock was the highpoint of the movie.

No, grandfather/Hitler paradox is different.

This is about timeline construction, they didn't exist they cannot exist in that time period, they can only observe it. Time travelers can go back, it's theoretically possible we just need to build plates big enough to sustain a human being being sent through a timeline curve.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casimir_effect

Grandfather paradox is more than just going back before you existed. Time travel allows you to go back before you existed, but you can't interact, only observe what is happening.

I suppose the movie did a good job at conveying that by locking Cooper in a Tessaract, showing him everything happening within his timeline. But as I said, he would not be able to manipulate the watch to convey binary, time is far too strict with its rules to allow it.

In regards to shooting your grandfather, all that paradox talks about is the elimination of your need/point to go back in time, the gun won't jam, the gun won't fire at all and no one would be able to see you firing a gun.

One can write time travel however they fucking like because it doesn't exist.
>>
>>69099880
This is generally how I felt. The film left me with all the wrong questions.
>>
>>69100082
Are you forgetting the whole "5th dimensional beings" thing? I kind of took that as Nolan's excuse for bending the rules. Like the "time gods" allowed him to break the rules for whatever reason

Oh shit I forgot anon wrote the book on what 4 dimensional beings and what they can and can't do.
>>
>>69100082
Its not time travel though. In this movie the tesseract was made by 5th dimensional being and they can interact with human through gravity because for them time is just a mere space, and Cooper did just that, using gravity to do his mission.
>>
>>69099736
its a 5th dimensional being. For them there is no past, present or future, they are always there. And gravity is their way of communication.

Why the shit does /tv/ hate this movie so much? I remember when this first came out there were inflammatory trolls EVERYWHERE on /tv/. Sure, edgebabbys love to pull the "you're not allowed do enjoy that" shtick but I have never seen them do it on this scale with any other movie. I've even seen them migrate to /x/ and ask if demons were responsible for people unironically liking the movie. Seriously.

>Those aren't mountains, they're waves. And that one is moving away from us.

The most intense scene in the whole movie. I regret not seeing this on the big screen.
>>
I think Interstellar is Christopher Nolan's most emotional work. Inception, Memento, Batmans are pretty plot-heavy, quick paced movies, often feel cold and you cant fully feel the characters emotional struggles. This one is a bit slower and heartful, its refreshing.

I don't know if it's been mentioned in a previous thread but there is NO PARADOX ISSUE with the higher dimensional super humanity affecting past events.

The movie solved this problem in the first hour. Plan A vs Plan B. Plan A fails because gravity, most of humanity is wiped out.

Plan B is successful in fostering a new human race on another world and they are the ones that eventually achieved transcendence.

They in turn help create an alternate timeline in which plan A succeeds, which does fuck-all to them because they exist outside of causality, and whichever plan succeeds, the endgame doesn't change
