it's rare for a panelist to be so bad that they can ruin an episode with 4 funny people on the panel, and in series e its often good choices for the whole 3 anyway.

How could everyone here forget the beat panelist on the show? Intelligent AND witty, Clive Anderson. He doesn't subvert the show by pretending by being dumb like some comedians (only Sean locke pulls that off).
And the worst panelist was that mega pretentious guy who kept quoting the Latin name for things. He was only ever on once because everyone on the show hated him so much, even Stephen fry. He got every question rightbut never attempted to be funny.
