The whole thing with Jon is all the more fucked up because in the book she reflects that she never blamed Ned, and had indeed expected him to cheat during the war. She felt that men putting their lives on the like have a right to look for comfort where they can find it. I actually agree with that, but what's fucked is that she blames the bastards of the world for ever being born, like they have any choice in it.

I understood why they had little choice at the time. At least unlike some of her other actions, she consulted Rob and had his consent. Marrying off Arya without consent was shitty, but it was revealed in a Lanister chapter that upon adulthood one can refuse their arranged marriage, though it can risk trouble between houses of course.

They took a lot of lazy routs with the show from the start, despite it's budget, but it's gotten worse. They can't even be assed to use the most basic styling techniques to make actors resemble their characters. Simple things like hair color and texture, and colored contact lenses. Look at how Theon looks the same after extreme torture and injuries that weren't allowed to heal right... His hair looks only slightly worse than it already did, he doesn't look any thinner or older, and they did the laziest fake scars on him. Nothing should surprise us at this point.

You're absolutely right about Cat and Lysa being spoiled brats when they were girls. Cat was the oldest and daddy's princess. She was betrothed to Brandon Stark and eventually married Ned. Even in her later years she has a false sense of entitlement and pushes Ned around to make decisions that suits her needs. Her bad decisions (and her connection to Littlefinger) directly lead to the demise of house Stark. She was an absolutely bad ruler and so was Robb.
Time undead Jon took control of the North and BTFO Stoneheart and BWB when they come north. I'm dreading that Stoneheart will be the one to kill undead Jon because >muh stronk female.

I think it was in book one. Something or other caused her to think of Jon on the wall and feel a pang of shame for her behavior before he was sent to the wall. It was just this little one line long moment. That is usually the extent of her self awareness.

Cat reminisces fondly of him yet has no shame for how cruel and cold she was when he tried to win her love. She calls it her duty when she's cruel and cold, and yet all her talk of duty doesn't stop her from actually spurning her duty and committing treason whenever it suits her fancy.

I don't know how I feel about Jon. I like him a lot so far in the books but it's getting to be a bit Gary-Stu. He's too good and kind and when he dies he just gets resurrected like it was nothing? His narrative is boring, and I think Theon has taken his slot as second favorite character. Though Theon is so much more compelling in the books than the show. I'm not sure if it's Alfie's fault or really bad directing. Looking completely pitiful seems to be the only thing he can do, and that's fine when he's Reek, but they aren't really pulling off his transformation.

I love Jon, but like I said, his narrative just lost it's interest for me. I've only just started the third book. Maybe book Jon gets interesting again. As far as the TV show goes his hype just makes me role my eyes. It was bad enough having one magical girl marry sue, now I think they mean to make Tyrion and Jon as ridiculous as Danny.
Where I am in the books it goes Aria, Tyrion, Jaime, Jon, and Theon though it looks like it's going to be a long time before we get back to Theon.
I hate Dany most of all, with Cat and Sansa close behind. With Sansa I was at least enjoying some schadenfreude, and the Hound. If Sansa had any sense she would have spread her legs like a whore for the Hound and escaped during the siege. But no, she's still placing her salvation in the hands of that poor fool she saved in one of her only good moments.
Davos I really like as a person, but at the same time he started out pretty boring. He's just very dry and serious, as is Stannis. Maybe that will pick up more.
I'm really looking forward to more Asha. I loved her in Theon's chapters.
It is absolutely madening that Danny gets a large share of the pov chapters in every single book while more interesting characters like Theon get swapped in and out for new pov characters. The whole series would be so much better without the magical plot device girl who can do no wrong.
