Instead, he walks up to Balon, spout's nonsense he's some sort of omnipresence, being like a delusional retarded with a god complex and directly stabs him and throws him over, not realizing that people would get suspicious of Balon's sudden death conveniently after he returns.

They basically did that though.
In the books we know that Balon was killed, and we know it was either Euron or a Faceless Man who did it. So the show went the Euron route.
Doubtless in the next episode they show him, he will show up at at the Iron Islands and use the same excuse he did in the books. How could he have killed Balon if his boat just arrived? He couldn't be in two places at once.
So we know he used magic to get to the Island and to get off it again.
