It was a medieval RPG (magic, dragons and shit) that also heavily pushed the classic tumblr-agenda. Overpowered women, transgender characters, tons of gay characters; all in the name of progressiveness and not for any story-value. This "diversity" was in fact marketed as one of the games strongest selling points.
Naturally, it garnered tons of critical acclaim from cuckold reviewers and in these small circles the game was considered a great step forward. It turned out, however, that the game was an absolute flop in the big market because no one actually wanted this shit.
Moral: The people on twitter/tumblr are beyond a vocal minority. It's just that the internet makes them seem like many.
