WOT would require significantly more special effects work than Game of Thrones since magical battles and inhuman monsters are a hell of a lot more common in the series. It's either going to look like shit or all the crazy stuff is going to get toned way down.

You shouldn't read it because it's incredibly boring. It's something like 12 books long and the entire middle of that is a dry spell where fucking nothing happens.
The characters are also very annoying. All the men are wife-beaten cucks, all the women are bitch queens. Apparently the author was autistic and doesn't understand women at all, which makes sense, since he was Mormon. So all of the female characters are written on both his wife's idea of a stronk independent womyn and on his own perception of his wife (lel).
I think I stopped at the start of the eighth or ninth book. He up and died and his biggest (Mormon) fanboy Sanderson wrapped it up for him, but given how mediocre Sanderson's own work is, I'm glad I didn't bother with the rest of it.
I also happened to stop shortly after Moiraine's "death", at which point she was the sole decent female character and solid waifu material. She probably went to shit sometime after he brought her back, but I'll never know.
I'm confident the show will be hilariously bad. If it manages to do any better than that, it'll only be after they've strayed far from the source material.
