Think the people making the show got caught up with the success and popularity. Made them think they were actually good writers/ actors so they started to stray from the source material too much. That's what got us the mess that was s5 ( I actually enjoyed the first 3,and 4 was decent enough), and will probably be s6. Maybe they realized it and that's why they are going back to Jaime's book plot and bringing the ironborn back into it.
