For starters, change that God-awful logo design. And take out the "comics" part of the name since it's completely redundant.

>Detective Comics Comics

Fire Snyder, and let him do GOOD MOVIES.
>>
I honestly believe the dark, dreary tones the movie has is what turns people off.

It would be like removing the foundations of a building that just began construction.
Either keep going and hope that people start liking serious and grimdark capeshit again, or reboot.

Zack the 68 percent drop hack Snyder went wrong
>>
>>68937835

>In the end, the film will earn around $330m in America, or just under 2x its opening weekend. That’s the lowest multiplier for a big-budget comic book movie outside of Zack Snyder’s Watchmen and Jonah Hex.

>The film flamed out overseas as well, earning 46% of its eventual over/under $550 million overseas cume in those first five days, easily the worst multiplier for a big opener.
>>
>>68937695
Snyder isn't that bad when he actually has a good script to work from. The real problem is the writers, like David S. Goyim and Christopher Nolan, who are so pretentious and up their own arses, that they think people in Bat costumes should be treated like an philosophical opera.
>>
>>68937614

you save it by maturing, and forgetting about quips and splosions. and seeing film as an artform.

Why should we save it? Now that it's dead, we should focus on killing Marvel too.

all capeshit fags should be executed with a bullet through the skull and buried in a mass grave.

I would unironically join a death squad if it meant I could massacre capeshit fags
>>
>>68937614
It was a trainwreck and people defended it, so they kept going until the train actually crashed.
Now people are trying to make it seem like the explosion and the flames are something normal.
>>
>>68937886
Nolan just got paid to put his name in the poster, Snyder dumbness to understand the source material and his rule of cool way of doing things is the real problem

The problem is not that it's too serious, or grimdark. The problem is everything else. It's just a bad movie.

The perfect storm.

>A studio brave enough to allow a creative team to inject a complex theme into a blockbuster.

>A director skilled in telling a story through visuals, but needing a really big canvas to do it.

>A marketing team too eager to present it as a cape-driven blockbuster instead of acclimating the audience to the movies' actual tone and subject matter.

>A public too passive and asleep to appreciate what they were given.

>A rival franchise exploiting all of the above.

>A militant fan base on both sides who either hate the IP, or are too tone-deaf to appreciate a thoughtful interpretation of the lore.

>A small, dedicated core of believers who see the vision and integrity, but will suffer through years of ridicule and dismissal.

getting rid of Snyder and Goyer is a must, but that wouldn't solve the problem. I think that WB is the problem by itself. Superman Returns was released a year after Batman Begins and no one thought about integrating those characters when it was possible and a year after SR, Marvel put out Iron Man teasing a shared universe which revolutionized the industry.

Then they were off to make Green Lantern, and I actually followed each fucking piece of news about that production (i'm actually in the industry myself so I actually had to do that). Here's a quick recap:

>By 2003 - 2005, WB was seriously considering making Green Lantern a comedy with Jack Black in the titular role
> Then they decided with a serious tone, said the history was going to be like "Training Day" with Hal Jordan and Sinestro investogating bad shit throughout the galaxy, and fighting at the end;
> Got Martin Campbell to direct, who had just made Casino Royale
>Decided to use Hal Jordan, because he was the main lantern at the comics when the movie was in post production (ignoring far more known and popular Jon Stewart). Considered Justin Timberlake for the role but eventually went with Ryan Reynolds
>Story was completely changed
>Producers gave statements promising a "space opera", a lot of early concept arts were shown at the official comics
>Decided to make the costume in CGI; movie went overbudget; story was changed to be set on earth; concepts and character designs were changed
>On last minute Geoff Johns was called to make the movie tied to a larger DC universe, so Amanda Waller was introduced and a failed viral marketing campaign began 1 month before the movie release
>First trailer was released, without proper effects and tone, movie failed to get late-game budget from investors.
>DC cinematic universe didn't start at 2011

So yeah, a project that was constantly changed. A bad decision was made and to fix it they made worst decisions and so on. Same thing happened with BvS.

Getting rid of Goyer is fine, but Snyder is pretty much impossible without rebooting.
Sadly, he's the Kevin Feige of the DCEU, he's balls deep inside every single movie.

Being "serious and grimdark" isn't the fucking problem. It's being "serious and grimdark" while also being "overwhelmingly stupidly written" and having "completely incompetent direction" and being "mind-blowingly poorly edited."

The movies not being "fun" and "actively sabotaging the canon characters for muh half-considered 'reinterpretations'" could still work if they weren't also "simultaneously self-important, belligerently dumb, and offensively ham-fisted" with it's imagery and seemingly "intentionally ambiguous about basic plot motivation just for the sake of ambiguity."

>>A studio brave enough to allow a creative team to inject a complex theme into a blockbuster.
The theme wasn't "complex." It was muddied.

>A director skilled in telling a story through visuals
The director is only "skilled" at copying visuals from other shit. And when he doesn't have a comic book to jack beats from he obsessive compulsively starts copying renaissance paintings.
>but needing a really big canvas to do it.
Had a $250 million canvas and total creative freedom
>instead of acclimating the audience to the movies' actual tone and subject matter.
That's like saying they didn't adequately acclimate the audience to being shot in the fucking face.
>A public too passive and asleep to appreciate what they were given.
>too passive
>to appreciate what they were given.
Said the BvS sheep
>A rival franchise exploiting all of the above.
WE MUST FEAR THE GLOBAL CONSPIRACY AGAINST BAD MOVIES
> A militant fan base on both sides who either hate the IP, or are too tone-deaf to appreciate a thoughtful interpretation of the lore.
ACTIVELY SABOTAGES THE IP AND GETS THE "THOUGHTFUL INTERPRETATION" FUCKING WRONG. THE BATS DONT TAKE HIM TO THE FUCKING LIGHT.
>A small, dedicated core of believers who see the vision and integrity, but will suffer through years of ridicule and dismissal.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO PRETEND THE MOVIE IS GOOD TO SAY YOU LIKE IT. I LOVE THE MOVIE LIKE I LOVE AN ABUSIVE, AUTISTIC SIBLING. YOU ONLY GET RIDICULED FOR BEING DELUSIONAL AND STUPID, NOT FOR LIKING THE MOVIE.
>>
>>68937773
If that chart is legit, there is a bunch of really shitty movies about to be made.
