Because they gave MoS and BvS to Zach Snyder, who is unable to make anything not dark and gritty, which is why Watchmen was so good, and why the Batman segments of BvS were so good. He can't write Superman for shit, and he's the keystone of the DCCU.

The vast majority of people are plebs. Marvel knows to talk down to their audience, just make everything nice and simple for them to digest. DC is still trying to do more with the genre, but the audience doesn't want more, they just came here for schlock.
