This. My grandmother has Lewy-Body dementia, and for a long time it was sort of cute how she'd act. She was very silly most of the time even if she was forgetful. Then she started walking out of the house and getting lost, and fighting my grandfather, and within 6 months of being put in a home is now barely more than a vegetable. One movie that kind of does it right is On Golden Pond, the grandpa doesn't have Alzheimer's but he's in the very early stages of dementia and he does some funny things but for the most part it's very moving.
If you guys haven't seen it yet I'd highly recommend it, it made me appreciate my parents a lot more growing up.
