The characters all gain or lose IQ points whenever the plot demands it. I'm pretty sure every member of the main cast have all been the most intelligent or most brain damaged at different points in the series.
The show has become a drag since the start of season 3. Theres no real storyline now, its just endless conflict with "muh people" and sky-kru this sky-kru that. Everything could be solved by everyone simply going their separate ways instead of fighting. The entire earth is just sitting waiting to be re-built and these characters are running around a valley killing each other for no reason.
