It's the only one, despite it's flaws.

Malcolm in the Middle was pretty Keno

True Detective season 1 was the only true kino seriale. Discuss.
>>
Yeah, probably. There's real cinematic magic in it that I haven't really seen in any other show. I still can't believe they gave David Lynch a tv show. That in itself is pretty surreal
>>
>>68866698
It blows my mind that he almost did Empire Strikes Back. Seeing the weird music video and fetish shit he does make me question whether he's a genius or not. But then I hear him speak in interviews and feel convinced he's smart as heck.
>>
>>68866247
Season 2 stops it from being true kino
>>
>>68866769
No that was Return of the Jedi

But still that would have been weird regardless
>>
>>68866924
Facts are hard to remember

David Lunch is a good scientist, eh?
>>
>>68866829

Season 2 really wasn't that bad. The middle episodes are pretty stupid but the beginning and end of the season are great
>>
>>68866978
That's not wrong but I believe if you have to skip episodes to avoid getting burned out from all the dumb soap opera scenes, then it isn't a 10/10.
>>
>>68867059

You've got to cut it some slack tho. It was really ahead of its time and it aired on basic cable at a time when most tv shows aren't the shows we're used to today. It did pretty well despite the fact it had everything working against it
>>
has anyone ever been as qt as audrey?

maybe 90s björk
>>
>>68867136
I can make a case that the first season is the best shit ever. But again, if I have to skip episodes today in order to fully enjoy it then it cannot be a 10, unlike Malcolm in the Middle which has no bad episodes.

Am I the only one here that liked all the soap opera-esque moments of the show?

I felt the melodramatic tone of a lot of these scenes clashed but actually made the darker and more surreal moments more effective as a whole.

Like we were really seeing two shows, a somewhat self aware cheesy soap opera gradually being infected with Lynch's trademark unpleasantness.

Also if you disregard season 2 you miss Ray Wise's greatest work on the show. Not cool.

some of the episodes without lynch where the other people tried to out-lynch lynch are flat out shit though and just cross over into bad soap opera

the whole james meeting that woman storyline
sawmill woman getting turned into a doorknob
that guy getting put into a giant chesspiece before getting shot with a crossbow
nastyman being a slave to windom earle
windom earle in general
people coming back from the dead

I agree. I had a blast watching LOST especially the later seasons with /tv/ and Sapranos and Rome are amazing but Twin Peaks even with the bad parts is so god damn patrician.
>>
is fire walk with me worth a watch?
was thinking the 3 hour fanedit with all cut scenes put back in would probably be the best way
>>
>>68869323

Yeah it's great. Haven't seen the fan-edit tho
>>
>>68869323
I enjoyed it
Lara Flynn Boyle isn't in it as Donna which is good
but Sherilyn Fenn isn't in it which breaks my fucking heart
it's like any other Lynch film, rather than Twin Peaks, it's a lot darker
the fan edit is great, I've been meaning to download it again for after I've finished watching the blu ray collection.
there's a scene in the fan edit, which has Leland pretending to be a giant which makes me laugh every time.

Watch the film first then The Missing Pieces after. The scenes work separate from the film where they are too tonally jarring.
