Nah, you need the early 00s. I want some internet, not as much as now, just a little bit, some nice pre-social media internet. Maybe Bebo can stay.

Go away you Tumblr pleb
70's is objectively the best decade for film.
The 90's were actually pretty awful if you really look back at it

I unironically bought a bunch of Kangol hats and shirts when Jackie Brown came out. Pretty fly, honestly.

You know what's fun, that game where there's a green and pink tennis ball, and you have a velcro thing that you hold in your hand like a velcro plate, and you throw the ball

Jurassic Park, The Matrix, Cartoon Network, Super Nintendo, Pokémon, no social media, Mirc, Kazaa... Fuck, those were the days.
>>
yeah I mean I can see how if you were a kid in the 90s, you might think some things were good

but thinking the 90s music was good shows a lack of self awareness that can't easily be compared to anything

there was no decade worse than 90s music

I dont know what 30s music sounded like but I bet it was still better than 90s

foo fighters? nirvana, red hot chili peppers, if you think of these as being anything but audio vomit you've successfully been used by a merchant, they've convinced you of things that simply weren't true

just let that sink in

let it become a part of yourself, you can't remove that fact from reality or your mind

NO DOUBT was very popular in the 90s, everyone basically like them, they were on all the pop stations
>>
>>68829237
No they weren't you shit stain. I was a le 90s kid myself, and seriously you didn't feel like they were good because they were, it's just because you were young. The 90s is pretty much markedly the period in modern times when everything started going to complete shit, especially culturally, and then it culminated in fuckin 9/11 and there's just no actual return from that. The 50s-80s were probably the best part of the 20th century, but even then it's still always been shit kid. Nothing personnel.

It's actually your generation who didn't contribute shit but ruined standards in every cultural category. The current crop of retards are inspired by decadent easygoing PC ideals of your past and that's why they have no balls in anything.

You could say anything you wanted during the late 90s. Hell, television even encouraged it with quite of lot of R-rated programming.

There is a reason I constantly see neon imagery everywhere and 8-bit oscillators in music; that and the constant rehashing of culture alluding to the 80s in all forms of media which posers of today identify with? I don't hear gabber, rave or psychodelic punk reimaginings anywhere do I? That's because the influence of that generation remains dormant yet

Was with you until
>best music

There was some good music released to be sure, but almost none of it was mainstream or very well known. The 90s were the absolute worst decade for popular fashion and music...but the last really good decade for everything else.

David Bowie's entire lyrical oeuvre was "I can't have normal emotions, aren't I strange" and if he weren't both handsome and a great singer we would have gotten sick of it super fast.

He deserves the fame he got, 1000% but the lyrical value of his work is a joke.

Hmm has it always been like this? Yes yes it has.

Only just getting into alternative 90's music and its fucking amazing.

>The 90s were the absolute worst decade for popular fashion and music...but the last really good decade for everything else.

Fucking this

90's invented

>Boy bands
>Mainstream blackwashing rap
>Mega popstars
>Autotuning (DO YOU BELIVE IN LOVE AFTER LOVE)
>Modern Electronica (This isnt a bad thing if your into alternative electronic music but mainstream stuff is recycled trash)
>Corrupting Disney stars

The mainstream 90's music was just as bad as the mainstream music of every decade. Pop music, by definition, caters to the lowest common denominator.

>90's

The 80's is the best famiglia, Queen, Journey, Michael Jackson, The Police, Hall and Oates, Madonna, Pill Colins, etc

So many classics were made then, and 90's was the birth of grunge.

1995 till about 2005 was objectively the worst 10 year period in film history. All art really.
>>
>>68837520
Yes, but some pop music is better than others. The pop music of the '70s and '80s was better than other pop music from other decades. Objective fact.

What in the early 2000's was better than Nirvana and Pearl Jam? What in the early 2000's was better than Super Mario World and Chrono Trigger? What in the early 2000's was better than Fargo and Pulp Fiction?
>>
>>68839243
The strokes are bigger and better than nirvana
GTA and WOW are better games
>>
>>68839052

Millennials, folks.
>>
>>68839384
>The strokes are bigger and better than nirvana
>GTA and WOW are better games

So le edgy shooting game and "go off and kill the same boars 4000 times" is better than Chrono Trigger and SMW? Holy shit, how old are you?

And the fucking Strokes? Seriously?
>>
>>68839452
Objectively yeah both games and the strokes are better... grunge isn't that good of a genre anyways stop with your muh nostalgia
>>
>>68839401
If you are implying that Millennials were the cause, then yes, you are right.

If you are implying that I am a Millennial, then you are wrong. I am Gen X.
>>
>>68839551

/tv/, home of shit opinions like these.

Nirvana smashes anything the Strokes ever did.

And most GTA games have aged like milk. And WOW was just muh open world bullshit with barely anything to do.

Go look up any "best games" list (either user voted or by a publication) and Chrono Trigger and SMW are always in the top 10 (#1 is usually Chrono Trigger or Ocarina of Time, another 90's game).

You and your shit opinions are fucking sad.
>>
>>68839659

I was implying that you are a millennial. How can you say that the late 90's were bad for movies? Fargo, Big Lebowski, Something About Mary, American Beauty, Austin Powers 1 and 2, American History X, Truman Show, Trainspotting, etc, etc, etc

Even shit movies like Independence Day and Deep Impact have more charm that today's shit movies.
>>
>>68839670
Nirvana is a bad pixies cover band that happened to blow up... strokes may not be the best band by far but certainly better than shitty nirvana.
GTA aged way better than chrono trigger...
>>
>>68839798

The brain fragments that came out of Kobain's head were more interesting than anything the Strokes did.

>GTA aged way better than chrono trigger...

Which GTA? 1? 2? 3? Vice City? Because all of those aged like shit. Chrono Trigger sells a shitload no matter which platform it got released on (psx, DS, ios). You're literally the only person in the world who thinks GTA is better than CT.
>>
>>68839734
>Something About Mary, Austin Powers, Truman Show

KEK

It's about the average amount of good movies, not specific movies.

I bet you are one of those faggots who always argue the exception, not the rule, right? You are one of those faggots every time someone says something that is objectively true, you are the homo who says, "Yeeeeaaaahhh but......"
>>
>>68839889
I agree cobain dying is far better than any strokes album... thank god he can't make anymore music.
The ones that boomed in 2000s was vice city and san andreas... both aged better desu
>>
>>68839994

Uh, you said movies were bad, so I gave a list of good movies, retard.

And I would say the average amount of good movies is better in the 90's than now. Nowadays you get tons of shit that just goes straight to Netflix + capeshit + sjw shit.
>>
>>68840008

Nirvana's still better. You and you're edgy /mu/ opinion is irrelevant.

And as I said, no one else on the planet thinks some "herr derr lets go shoot at cars" game is better than a masterpiece like Chrono Trigger or Super Mario World.
>>
The 90's is the only time in history when the world was at peace after the Cold War ended.

>Nirvana's still better. You and you're edgy /mu/ opinion is irrelevant.

Pixies > Nirvana
>>
>>68840195

Just the way it is.

You'll find some retards who say Star Wars Attack of the Clones is better than Empire Strikes Back, but anyone with common sense knows that they're wrong and batshit insane.

Like you thinking the Strokes and GTA are better than Nirvana and Chrono Trigger.
>>
>>68840248
Cmon man nirvana maybe culturally significant but musically they are just a copy of pixies. For god's sake they even admitted they were trying to be like pixies...
>>
>>68840546

They were trying to be the Pixies, but they evolved into their own voice. You obviously weren't there in 91. In the era of ultra hardcore rap and 80's spandex rock Nirvana was like a shot of adrenaline. It was a catchy mix of pop and rock that went to unheard of levels.

The Beatles were trying to be like a lot of the African American musicians they had heard from America, does that take anything away from the Beatles?
>>
>>68840656
>In the era of ultra hardcore rap and 80's spandex rock Nirvana was like a shot of adrenaline.
Grunge and then nu-metal were the worst things to ever happen to popular music.

Only good NIN songs were the Mark has been made, right where it belongs(the piano version not the second edit) and all the love in the world. Their sound was much to distorted for my liking and Trent is just really not a good singer. Charlie clouser was the best talent to through the band. The synths he makes, his style of music, his work with Rob zombie and the remixs he did for Rob zombie, is all just amazing.
