Casinos aren't retarded, they know exactly who comes in, who is a player, who is a regular, who is a grifter, and if you "keep winning" regularly, they don't comp you a free room and meals, they only do so if you lose regularly
I've seen a lot of consistent winners get 86'd, if you are costing the house money, they will find a reason to get rid of you, and you can't do anything to dispute them
so it's hard for me to believe a old dude like Sydney could perpetually be a player and make his living that way, especially in Reno where there's only about 10 major casinos
