Who is the most interesting currently working filmmaker and why is it Harmony Korine?
>>68802527
If he was still making Gummo, Trash Humpers, or Julien Donkey-Boy type films your point would be valid. Spring Breakers is garbage and The Trap looks like it's going to follow suit. He's my favorite filmmaker but I'm losing faith
>>68802527
That's a strange way to spell Tarantino
>>68802592
Spring Breakers wasn't garbage, it was an interesting experiment in liquid narrative. Plus, Trash Humpers was only a few years ago.

normies get out

Trash Humpers came out eight years ago. SB may be better than a lot of films in the last couple years, but it lacks anything concrete to make it memorable. It has a short shelf life which is made even worse by how dated and stupid Franco's performance already seems.
Instead of just disagreeing with you about Korine, I'd say personally I think the most interesting filmmaker currently working is Robert Eggers, director of The Witch. What he did with a small budget was gorgeous, I'm really looking forward to seeing what he puts out next.

Spike Jonze.

>Harmony Urine
>>68803383
That was pretty fucking boring while looking nice. I wish Korine would drop his wigger phase.
Shane Carruth
Step aside, kiddo

MOST PUNCHABLE FACE EVER

Leave Terry alone
>>68804628
What's his net worth these days? He needs to just say fuck it and executively produce Topiary.
>>68804628
This. Shane Carruth probably
isnt he meant to be coming out with something new soon?
>>68802527
Sure, if this was 1997. Making Spring Breakers at the age of 40 was just sad.
>currently working
He took your order at McDonalds in Walmart, too, bro?
>>68805217
>>68805240
He's working on a film called The Modern Ocean
>>68803383
Masterful indeed.
Seductive black on black violence, daring the negros who watch it to be jealous of her boldness, causing heavy self-reflection.
Plebs outta the way, Korine rules.
>>68805251
Spring Breakers was the first time utilizing his exploitive style in a genius manner.
If you saw it opening weekend you saw whole swaths of the yolo crowd leaving in tears when it looked like Gomez was going to get raeped.
>>68803057
Seconding this.

Throw Haneke and Von Trier there and you got the 'I'm 16 and I'm into alternative cinema' starter pack
>>68805291
Meh, I view it more as a sad attempt to stay relevant. See also: Oliver Stone's Savages.
>>68805316
Von Trier is a pretentious hack though
>>68805316
Pop a useless trip on, make a boring trite comment and you got the 'I was molested' starter pack

>>68805207
Terry is so adorable
>>68802527
Korine is cool
So is refn and Kar-wai
>>68805336
True enough but it was nice at least see him trying something different. He at least got Franco on board which was entertaining as hell and looked like it was made with more than 20 bucks.
>>68802684
Riif Raff is eternal
>>68805418
It's definitely Franco's most interesting role from the past five years.
>>68805316
Von Trier doesn't belong on any list get him the fuck out of here
>>68805443
Maybe if all of his albums didn't take for fucking ever to come out, and if they were 1/10th as good as his first 8 mixtapes. I'm losing interest in his surfer bro bullshit
>>68805346
HAHAH
>>68802604
Biggest bait I've ever seen in my life.
>>68802527
You're thinking about Paul Thomas Anderson m80
>>68805316
this is a stupid argument. those directors are good regardless of your age.
you can watch stuff when 16 and than later when you're older and they'll still be good.
I think you're just a frustrated prick anon
