It's like choosing between pie and salmon. I love both but god knows they are totally different.

Kubrick is a better thinker and master of details for sure. Lynch is the Mahdi of feelings and atmosphere. I'd say Kubrick is the better "film maker" but Lynch is the better "creative." If that makes any sense at all.

Lynch is best at creating surreal imagery/atmosphere.
Blue Velvet, Eraserhead and Mulholland Drive capture his intentions the best.

Kubrick is best at making fast ticking and very organized movies.

Dr. Strangelove and 2001 are good examples of his style.

Both appeal to a very advanced moviebuff, however Kubrick far less so. Still, the least accessible kubrick is more "art" than the Lynch's more accessible.
