But that's a pretty awesome list. I really don't get the hype for Primer, though. I understand that it's extremely complicated and well thought out, but I tried watching it twice and just couldn't enjoy it.

I'm biased towards Primer because it was the first low budget movie I ever watched that actually felt like a real movie and made me want to get into filmmaking as well. It's a flawed film for sure that I can't really defend but I love it regardless. The cinematography and score are top notch and the way based Shane screwed around with narrative made up for it being so hard to follow, for me.
I can't even argue that it's a good film objectively because I'm not sure if it is. It's just something that I personally love.

I respect Richter for what he did for the medium but not really that psyched about his work in itself. Walter Ruttman who was making films before Richter managed much more interesting and complex animation. Filmstudie is my favorite of his.
