From the sounds of it you might like Japanese cyberpunk. They never really bought into your idealized 80s where every movie was the best parts of Commando and Predator idea that you seem to have in your head outside of anime so their cyberpunk offerings are probably the best you'll get.

Try watching Burst City and see what you think.

Also is your post satire, it feels like satire but /tv/ is consistently stupid that I can't be sure.

Nothing?

Shun everyone who uses it. It meant something in the twenties and if you ever see somebody speak it fucking deck them.

I have absolutely no idea where you got the idea that he wants every movie to be Predator and Commando. You should go to bed.
>>
>>68757597
I know what it 'means'. But on /tv/ it's another word like "cuck" or "autism" or "just" or "faggot" or "projecting" or dozens of other words which have been turned into irrelevancies.

It seems to just be a way of luring out 'newfags' but even the most new of new people could work out it's a meaningless word.
>>
>>68757625
Everybody seems to have this weird view of the 80s as the coolest and most stylish time ever experienced by movies when I think it was a fucking awful time for everything. And it's only 7pm here, I have shit to do, which is why I'm on /tv/.

“Shuto Kôsoku toraiaru” but it is set on the Tokyo race track, not the actual city.

Initial D is the only other proper race film with shit you could want, but it's early 2000's, not 80's.

You're asking for shit which wasn't popular until the 90's to be set in a period before hand. Street races grew thanks to easy access to imports.

Like I said, I fucking hate the 80s. It wasn't a bold and stylish time for filmmaking, it was a time of regression, growing prudishness and childish tastes and commercialism growing more and more prominent. I think that pretty much all of the worst problems facing films now started up then. Sure, it took the 70s to create the 80s but the 70s at least produced way more great movies and wasn't half as creatively bankrupt.

>>68757855
Anno directed Love & Pop.

Also, Love & Pop is actually a sequel to Tokyo Decadence. Did anybody other than me see that movie?

>>68757878
What'd he ever do to you? He worked his way up from the bottom like everyone else and has a great eye for aesthetics. And as for his attitude, I've never seen any indication of him being an unpleasant person. He does seem to be very unhappy though.

And one more thing, Hideaki Anno once worked on a hentai. It was a fucking masterpiece.

i marathoned that 4 hours of that weird movie(it was good too).
but what was the message? sexuality? growing up?
and was it weird because it was a japanese movie or was it intended?
>>
>>68757923
Irrelevant. It's still set in Tokyo and involves car racing and the music he wants. He's wanting shit to be made before it's time. Like asking for a 1920's World War 2 film being made.

>Demons (1971) "Shura"

Grimdark arthouse samurai film.

The world is cruel and nightmarish and the film gets very violent at times. Oozing with bleak atmosphere but it's a fantastic film.

I preferred the show. Eva was always a character driven story and episodes 25 and 26 did a perfectly fine job of providing a satisfying conclusion on that front. EoE might have disguised itself as a plot resolution for the lowest common denominator or additional characterization but really I think that it says more about Anno than Shinji or anybody else. It's really impressive what you get when you combine somebody creating with raw emotion rather than creating a thought out by the numbers plot with the lack of limitations that you get from the animated medium but the lack of coherence I think takes some strength away from EoE. It's sort of a mad storm of creative passion and frustration. That's a really damn interesting thing, but the show's ending felt like a much more concise thematic closure for Eva.

Wings of Honneamise was Gainax's true cinematic masterpiece. It's just as technically impressive as EoE while the narrative deals with similar introspective ideas to Eva (more the series than EoE) in a mature and straightforward manner. Eva's ideas on depression and social alienation were interesting and resonated incredibly strongly with its audience since I think that it was a great issue of the time that was more or less unaddressed everywhere, Honneamise deals with bigger, looming questions that have been with us since long before NEETdom was ever a thing and will probably be with us forever. I think that Honneamise deserves more recognition for this and over time will eventually get it. "I mustn't run away" hits hard for us young unhappy folks living in the late 20th/early 21st century but "is my life fulfilling?" will probably apply to everyone, everywhere forever.

Jesus fuck I need to learn to be concise or I'll never get anything done in my life. What was I even saying?
