They live at the last outpost before the stepstones, they live in one of the largest port towns in Planetos. All of Western and Dornish shipping stops at that port. Most ships coming from or going to South Essos stops at that port. All of the Summer Isles ships stop at that port. There is no busier waterway on the fucking planet than the bottleneck at the stepstones, which is right next to that fucking port.
What exactly is the problem here? What exactly do you need spelled out? How they managed, in the busiest port in the world, to find a ship that was going to KL? How, in the 2-4 weeks it takes to travel from Dorne to Kings' Landing, they managed to get ahead of the royal ship that probably stopped in the Stormlands?
