Eh, it's polarizing. I liked it but it's not as good as the first one. It's like they formed a focus group that extracted what people loved about the first season like the nihilistic, bleak tone, "damaged" characters, cool quotes and the general atmosphere then they just cranked up those elements to eleven - yet they forget to concentrate on writing a good script. The entire season feels a little bit like a parody of S1. Especially whenever Vince Vaughn starts talking.

Watch it up until the shootout in episode 2 or 3? There's a character involved in PMC shit but they don't talk about it much. It's wasted so they have more time to show Vince Vaughn managing a casino. Nothing interesting ever happens in the casino.
It would have been Pizza's masterpiece if not for the ending.

It's a very character driven show, unfortunately the characters are not interesting.
There's a gay cop who worked for Blackwater, but they don't really bring it up much until near the end. It's not worth watching.

This. I'd also add if you like Blue Velvet, you'll probably like this movie too. Seemed like Pizza tried to adapt that movie's main concept into the Los Angeles setting, and it makes for some damn comfry television.
If that doesn't convince you, watch it for Colin Ferrel alone. He might be angsty, broken down and edgy, but he can still carry the show.

Its a huge step down from season 1 and is honestly pretty shit all together.
Theres way too many characters, none of them getting enough development or screentime.
Theres about 5 different plotlines going on at once, 4 of which just kinda get dropped halfway through the season.
The main plot is unnecessarily complicated and is made even worse by all the other subplots.
You only really give a shit about Ray(and you barely give a shit about him).
Also most of the acting is subpar.
