Just watched them again, pretty great, actually. Everything about them.
Only the first is 1 shit/didn't age well at all.
They also seem redpilled and aren't propaganda Jew shit.
>>68650165
absolute shit
Since it's pretty much universally hated, /tv/ must love it.
>>68650165
They are just as fucking awful as people say that they are and plinkett is like 90% on point with his criticisms despite the fact that those reviews have become regurgitated meme-garbage over the years.
However the fact is that if they weren't so uniquely awful it's likely that Star Wars wouldn't still have the cultural relevance that it enjoys now. Hating those movies has kept people engaged in star wars so much more than if they had just been well-crafted by the books space opera blockbusters with a star wars coat of paint.
They are cult-classic levels of bad.
So worthy.

>>68650165
We used to hate them, but because now everyone hates them, we have to like the prequels.
It wasn't that long ago when people used to quote and praise the Plinkett review all the time here.

THE SITUATION
I enjoyed them. I only hate the throwaway cheese ball dialogue thst crops up occasionally. "Another happy landing" - Yeah fuck you.
However like I said I enjoyed them. I think they get unfairly criticised but there is good in them.
I wish they had stuck to the darth jar jar play though. Shit was cash

EXECUTE ORDER 66
>>68650165
Great ideas. Flawed execution.
Episode I: 4/10. Great action sequences but some elements don't age well at all. Some of the dialouge is poor and some performances are hammed up.
Episode II: 3/10. Little memorable moments but at least we finally got a backstory to Anakin that we gave a shit about. The naboo scenes are atrocious, but I can't rate it 2/10 because dat Portman.
Episode III: 7-8/10. Really good. Dark as shit, high stakes, origins of the characters you gave a shit about, and the greatest lightsaber battle in the entire saga. Two people both trained for years in the force going at it in a burst of emotion. Love that shit even now.
The scores aren't as 'iconic' but I love them. Duel of the Fates is brilliant.
>>68650165
1 and 2 are meh, 3 is kino
their main saving grace is based sheev
>>68652936
Eh. Phantom Menace is more like a 6/10.

>>68651792
I think Episode I was Disney before Disney, with a Mandatory Annoying Humor Character included.
Episode II had some cool Detective Obi Wan moments, and Jango Fett was awesome.
>>68655542
A lot of people said so, before "le caustic critics" decided to get famous on the Internet, forcing their shit "reviews" down every normie's throat.
If you want an honest review of the PT, read Roger Ebert. He pinpointed exactly where PT films were bad, where they excelled, and where George went too deep with "poetry" and self-repetition. Without "acting out" his opinion like a moron.
>>68655769
>complains about someone else using a review to justify their opinion
>uses another review to justify their opinion
>>68655769
Well you outlined it there. The prequels were never considered "good" films, they were considered "flawed" at their worst. It's not a meme to say they were bad, it's a meme to pretend they're great films and genuinely better than The Force Awakens.
I like them. Like the ideas and concepts and vehicles. 2 was a bit boring though.
>>68655942
>flawed at their worst
I meant flawed at their best obviously
>>68650165

TFA is for the most part a better made movie. The expositary dialog sometimes does go full lucas but it's never as obnoxious as some scenes in episode 2. However, even though it's a better made movie, it's the weakest Star Wars movie yet. It's fan remake with shit designs and no ideas. It's a movie for people who don't like or care about Star Wars. I almost wish the "episode vii" would not appear in the title crawl so we could just dismiss it as fan fiction.
>>68656130
yeah, I see what you're saying here, but as a lifelong Star Wars fan I actually quite enjoyed it. If it had any form of original grounding it would have been GOAT, but too much fan service and normieness held it back a lot.
>>68650165
I like all six Star Wars movies.
I'm withholding any judgement on TFA until the new trilogy is complete.
>>68653736
>Eh. Phantom Menace is more like a 6/10
>Eh
Opinion discarded.
>>68656130
But there are huge similarities between the original trilogy and Episode 1 too, it's just the thing people focus on less because there are for more flawed things in those movies than just rehashed plot points, we have the same, rescue the princess, blow up the enemy space station, lonely sand planet kid etc. as the original. It seems that the only time pottery is accepted is when it's done by Lucas, in which case it's accepted as artistic genius ring theory nonsense.
>>68656254
>It seems that the only time pottery is accepted is when it's done by Lucas, in which case it's accepted as artistic genius ring theory nonsense
In what fucking world is Lucas' work on the prequels accepted as artistic genius.
Not bad but not good either.
C-
>>68656310
You should read the Star Wars Ring Theory, there are people that legitimately believe that every aspect of the prequels were carefully planned out, and the films are so avant garde that our puny human minds cannot begin to comprehend them
>>68651782
YOU'RE PURE!
>>68656254
They could have blown up another space station in TFA too and it would have been fine. It didn't need to be another Death Star. And what's with the super weird laser beams like strings that hit all the targets no guidance needed? I guess i hate everything about Star Killer base now that i think about it.
>>68656396
Maybe they're right. Instead of pandering and giving the fans a rehash of things that remind them of the original movies, Lucas exploded his own mythology. Recast the Jedi as up their own asses monks with a self-serving dogma instead of good guy samurai. Anakin falls for all the right reasons - vanity, love, entitlement, which casts Vader in the original as a tragic figure.
You can't convince me that George Lucas is not a genius. You can disagree with his art but one thing you can never do is stop discussing it.
>>68650165
Not as good as TFA.
>>68658437
Anybody who seriously believes TFA is better than Empire is brain dead or a toddler.
>>68650486
This is entirely wrong, the majorety of people liked the prequels and still do. You'd know this if you actually socialized with people in the real world and not just butthurt nerds on the internet.
