My granddads mate is the head of emergency at a city hospital and has been for like 30 years.

I suppose he's closest to Kelso? Or Bob?

Whatever it is, he's seen it all. He is a fucking machine. No matter how shit things are he just keeps plodding along doing his thing.

Stoicism is underrated in society.

He hates the bureaucracy and loves the patients.

>what? the guy had hepatitis?
>now the others all have hepatitis because of my transplants?
>oh no, why didn't I check the dead guy's status? I'm such a bonehead
The guy's ego was bigger than his skillset and as we saw throughout the series his newbies were at least as good as he was.
>>
>>68608379
it wasnt hepatitis it was rabies
>>
>>68608464
That's even worse, what a big headed screw-up that guy was. Just because he could shout louder than everyone else people thought he was a legend.
>>
>>68608379
It was rabies
>>
>>68608505
it wouldve been irresponsible to test for such a rare disease, so lets have this sandwich
>>
>>68608079
i don't think so.
i don't believe you have to become cold to deal with it.
pretty much everyone reacts the same way. if they saw some fucked up shit it'd bother them for a little while but it doesn't last long. Meanwhile i've seen them, particularly the women, still cry at movies or get upset at other trivial things. It's just not a big deal to you. think about when a celebrity you liked dies, how upset do you really get?
i'm sure it's harder for doctors who get to know their patients but they probably learn not to get involved pretty quickly.

Kelso is my favorite person in that show desu. Janitor close second
>>

Why was season 8 more depressing then the others that ep where the black guy is going to die and JD and Turk stay talking to him it felt different to the rest of the series.

What was his fucking problem?
>>
>>68608977
It was a metaphor to the show ending.
The black man represented the audience, the death was the inevitability that the show would eventually go away and he was afraid of that.

They died of rabies, but to the general autopsy it shows up as a cocaine overdose. Coupled with the physiological profile they had of her as someone who attempted suicide several times, it was an obvious decision. It was stated that there is only 3 reported cases of rabies a year, so when he has e people dying who need organs, he's gonna think "oh I should do a test for one of the rarest diseases"
Suck a dick.
>>
>>68609164
It was always odd to me how in depth the science and medicine stuff was in the show for having not been written by doctors
>>
>>68609164
And then people bitched about it when it came out only to find out it had been based on a real case. How fucked up is that
>>
>>68609164
the autopsy showed it was rabies. they assumed it was a drug overdose because the symptoms fit and j.d. thought she was suicidal. Instead of waiting for the autopsy results before transplanting the organs he just did it. this part is understandable and they may have died if they didn't get a transplant soon. Cox too understood that shit happens and he was going to be fine after j.d. talked to him. the third guy though wasn't in immediate need, could have waited for the autopsy, and just so happened to be a patient cox had gotten close to. this is what actually fucked him up.
>>
>tfw you will never get a high five from the todd
>>
>>68609164
If you're doing a transplant then shouldn't you do a test for almost every disease just to be sure?
As if the risk of rejection isn't enough, being condemned later due to the doctors not being thorough sound like a nightmare.
>>
>>68609613
The whole point is that those people were about to die. There wasn't any time, if he waited for the test results then they likely would've died before he got the results back. It was either rush the transplant and hope nothing was wrong and they get a chance to live or wait and they die anyways.
It was only the third guy who really made him feel like shit because that guy could've waited but the organs were a package deal.
>>
>>68608338
holy shit can this be a meme

pretty please
>>
He was such a well-written character that he basically could take the show away for a season.
>>
>>68609613
There's a lot of diseases desu senpai. You only have so much time to get that organ in the dying person.
>>
>>68609687
organs can be frozen you know.
too man cucks apologists. someone died 100% due to his overconfidence. he should have been fired desu.
>>
>>68609819

Your best idea is to cryo the organs? It was honestly the right thing to do. I don't know where the fuck you live but rabies is not easy to detect on the fly and 9/10 times he would have been right.
>>
>>68606852
neogaf called, they want you promoted for calling out people for having fun.
>>
>>68609871
your best idea is to respond to a discussion without reading it?
the first two people needed it immediately. cox was upset but dealt with it. the third guy was in no hurry. cox felt like shit about it and he should have.
>>
>>68609955
I'm happy at least somebody thinks I'm doing a good job
>>
>>68605937
They kind of did that in an episode of Scrubs when Cox place House.
>>
>>68609995
Was Cox ever charged with negligence or anything? For the third guy at least?
Sounds as if the thing that contributed to that guys accelerated death was Cox's hubris, that's a criminal act isn't it being that he didn't have to perform the surgery right then?

>>
>>68610089
no, and he wouldn't have been even if he was real
http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/07/01/rabies.organ.transplant/
certain organs can't be frozen. he still should have made sure it was cocaine though.
>>
Does the show lose it's comfiness for anyone else as soon as the show becomes HD? Maybe it's a nostalgia thing
>>
>>68610089

The point is that sort of thing happens in hospitals all the time. It wasn't hubris so much as assuming the organs we're only damaged by opiates. I mean medically, the whole thing doesn't really make sense. The donor was not really eligible at all.
>>
>>68610429
when did become HD?
>>
>>68610429

I can still get that because the early seasons were filmed in an almost raw old hospital that clearly looked like a throwback from the mid-90's.
>>
>>68610306
so many reasons
the biggest for me being that the last episode of the 8th season is literally the most perfect ending a show like that can have
>>
>>68610434
>that sort of thing happens in hospitals all the time
I'm never getting sick again, I swear it.
>>
>>68610468
I think season 7 or 8
>>
>>68610429
Nah man it's because the move to HD matched seasons 5 -6which were fucking dreadful. The strike in the middle of season7 was a blessing in disguise that allowed them to have a fantastic season 8
Season 1-3 ( ending with turk and Carla wedding) areGOAT tier
>>
>>68610306
Because it started out horribly focusing on the wrong character. The girl was flat and bland af

In fact, Lawrence got the idea for Scrubs when the two of them were getting drunk and his friend told him some crazy hospital stories.
