This movie is a perfect example of everything that's wrong with comic book movies nowadays and why they need to end - they're being made for the sole purpose of setting up other comic book movies, and not for actually telling a story.
There's no real story they wanna tell, and they don't need to, 'cause as long as they slap some imagery that's reminiscent to the comics and put two big names together people will go crazy for it. We used to get movies like Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil, Punisher, the first Iron Man and so on. Not all of them were great, in fact most were bad, but they were self contained and tried to be something. Something by themselves. That's the difference. Batman V Superman is basically a commercial for Justice League. It's Dark Knight Returns and it's Death of Superman and it's Wonder Woman and it's a bunch of stuff that really, really doesn't work together glued together in order to make a quick buck and make you see the next one, never preoccupied with giving you a satisfying beginning, middle and end and letting you decide for yourself whether or not you wanna return. They have to hook you in and MAKE YOU.
Leaving all that aside, Zack Snyder is a terrible storyteller who's only famous for his visuals and his ability to create action scenes. And before anyone even thinks about mentioning Marvel, their movies are visual snoozefests where everything is grey with semi-decent writing but the same character over and over and over and over. What's gonna come next? The charming badass with the mouth or the charming vulnerable badass with the mouth?
