Finally got around to watching this. Probably the best action-comedy I've ever seen. What do you think?

Probably my favorite movie. I even think the Kurt Russell John carpenter audio commentary track is better than most movies. They need to get off their asses and make another movie.

I just don't get why people love this movie.
It's pleasing visually and the characters are fine.
But I don't get why people are in love with it so much. It's not very funny either.

Jack Burton is one of the most likeable characters ever put on the screen and it made Kurt Russell one of the my favorite actors.

It's mainly Kurt Russell. Every single line he has is golden.
It is a very hit or miss movie for most people. Most people on /tv/ absolutely love it but a lot of people just don't get it. I remember showing it to two of my friends and they had no idea what they just watched. Ironically my Chinese friend just said "wow this probably makes people think Chinese people are weird" once it was over.

Great action, great set pieces, and the soundtrack.
Carpenter is a genius, and this is one of his best works. Quite possibly the most enjoyable movie ever made.
I prefer the porn parody, Big Stubble on Little Vagina.
I love Carpenter but this one doesn't do much for me. I think the appeal is largely nostalgia.

For me it's purely nostaligia. I went through this infant weeb stage some time in the early 1990s when I was obsessed with martial arts and magical chink shit. I loved video games like Mortal Kombat, Double Dragon, Dragon Ninja and all that sort of shit as well.
