This. Affleck really channels the sensibilities of the 70s-era of Hollywood, shown most overtly in Argo. Yet it doesn't feel like an homage ala Super 8, it genuinely feels like those movies. If nothing else, his Batman will be a great action flick with some good character beats.

Ben is not one of those people. He can't really elevate a work. But he CAN be really good if directed well, and he can direct himself well.
