what went wrong?

Nothing its pretty great
>>
>>68193990

a more astute social commentary than Night and overall a better movie too

they're both masterpieces but Dawn has the edge
>>
>>68194016

Day>Dawn>Night

We're all agreed, right?
>>
Dawn of the Dead > Night of the Living Dead > Day of the Dead > Land of the Dead > Diary of the Dead > Survival of the Dead
>>
>>68194065
Why does everyone usually shit on Day? What exactly did it do wrong?

nothing
>>
>>68194104
movie takes a dive after the first scene, too much science talk from that weird science guy.
>>
>>68194104

I have no idea, I unironically love it the most. I never got around to watching the original trilogy until a few years ago and Day just gripped me in a way Dawn didn't. The base and the tensions between the different groups inside just drew me in more than anything about that mall.

But opinions man. I still think Dawn is great, perhaps the low expectations I had for Day is what made me enjoy it so much.

Walking zombies to be honest, family member.

I can't agree but I think Day is great too. In more recent years the critical opinion regarding Day has done a huge turnaround so you're not alone at all. It's my least favourite of the trilogy but I still think it's great and has a lot of insights.

Night of the Living Dead 1990>Dawn of the Dead 2004
>>
Are any of the post Day films worth a look at? I distinctly remember Diary being god awful but I don't think I watched any of the rest.
>>
>>68194496
Land of the Dead is okay
>>
>>68193990
>the script was over 250 pages long and written like a novel.
>And Romero shot all of it.

Good'o days.
>>
Land, Diary & Survival are all worth a watch.

Am I right in saying Land is the final film in the loose series that began with Night?
>>
The casting for Day is pretty GOAT, not big name actors but everyone is perfect for the role they play.

Night aged badly and doesnt have any effect except for the ending - Savini's remake is superior

Dawn is interesting and entertaining

Day, although boring in some parts, is the most creepy and unsettling of them all. Especially the opening scene and the idea of having your base surrounded by hundreds of zombies with only a weak fence to protect you - also having the mine tunnels full of zombies next to your living space.
>>
>>68194733
Land was honestly pretty good as a zombie flick, it just felt really disjointed from the original trilogy. Like it was set in an alternate universe. Some top notch acting from Leguizamo too.
>>
>>68193990
Is this the mall one? If so they should have aruck with the ending where she puts her head into the helicopter blades
>>
Great movie with an excellent setting.
>>
Dawn of the Dead is more iconic, but Day has tighter direction and a better visual pallete, and doesn't have any ham fisted social commentary. Night of the Living Dead is only essential for defining the genre. As a film, it's somewhat dull/bad.
>>
>>68194532
How long did shooting last?

7 years. Held the record until Boyhood.

Dawn >= Night 90 > Day > Diary > Night > Land
First time I've seen Dawn mentioned. Feels good man.

Night 90?

Wha? It's all anyone talks about.

Why is the night remake never on tv I recall it being a great movie

Dawn was the apex.

Everything after is pretty much ass.

Original NotLD is 68, Tom Savini's remake was 1990.

Leave Zombie Kino to me.
>>
>>68196269

Because it's not related to the Romero movies?
>>
How can anyone enjoy the Night remake? Savini turned that into garbage with his "INDEPENDENT WOMAN" message. The only good part was Candyman's performance.
>>
>>68197335
>>68196033
The thing that ruined the NotLD remake were the cuts to give it an R rating. For a zombie movie from the late 80's / early 90's and with the pedigree of the director and producer, it feels weirdly muted.
>>
>>68193990
They killed the best character first.
>>
>>68194104
Day was my favorite. Siskel and Ebert thought the villain was too over the top.
>>
>>68193990

Roger shouldn't have died the way he did. He should of had gotten the fate of Peter in the script. He shoots himself when zombies corner him.

Bonus points for making it possible for Peter and Fran to escape
>>
>>68194065
Yup.
>>
>>68194328
I can agree with this.
>>
>>68194104
I used to hate it basically because it wasn't a fun adventure like Dawn, but as I got older, it grew on me. My favorite scenes in Day don't even involve zombies.
>>
>>68197591
It's weird that we don't actually see anyone get bitten, unless you count Harry's wife which was off-screen. But we do see zombies chowing down on Tom and Judy's charred remains. MPAA are weird.
