If you need glasses to function, you need glasses to function. Purposely denying a prisoner functional eyesight would be grounds for a fairly substantial cruel & unusual punishment complaint, since it would become difficult if not dangerous to perform basic tasks, let alone prison work, with impaired vision. They obviously wouldn't be the glasses he entered the system with, but a prison-issue pair deemed "safe".
