Which is better, and why is it the AU version?
>>
exactly
>>
I've only watched the AU version. How does the US one compare?
>>
>>68080109
It's really good, they're almost not comparable because they end up being really different shows.

AU is more serious, but US is darker. I think the AU version is funnier, despite the US version being a more traditional comedy.
>>
>>68080219
Thank you based anon I'll check it out.
>>
>>68080109
It's better in everyway
>>
>>68079883
I hate it when we do remakes of foreign shows, they're ALWAYS worse and it just makes us look bad.
>>
>>68080343
No, The Office was way better than the original. Even taking the later seasons into account.
>>
>>68080343
>foreign

I mean, Australia is strange and unfamiliar. But "foreign" seems to be a bit of a stretch.
>>
>>68080385
Fair point, but there are enough subtle differences that can really change things.
>>
They're so different you almost can't compare them. Theyre both great but i enjoy US version more.

The US version is better it has a plot.
AU is random garbage.

Thank god based America fixed that shitty show.
>>
>>68080312
Please do. Also the US version has a structured storyline as well as one off events.
>>
can someone recommend me some more Australian comedies. ive seen all from the guy who did those summer heighs high shows. anything else?
>>
>>68080385
Kinda unrelated but I always found it funny that the U.S. Dubbed the original mad max.

What's a matter ya yank seppo cunts, can't ya understand us.
>>
>>68079883

Frodo's cuter, so
>>

>the US version has a structured storyline as well as one off events.
That's cool. I like random event comedies but when there's an overall plot to it it's much more enjoyable.

The accent is too thick sometimes, also terms that don't really make sense when heard, but are obvious when read. It's a very different way of speaking the same language.
>>
>>68080528
I'm from New Zealand and I have trouble understanding you cunts sometimes... and I used to think that NZ slang was ridiculous.

It's a shame The Chaser's War on Everything was mostly topical humour. Top-tier Aussie humour. Same with Good News Week, both were examples of Australian Banter at its finest level...then people got butthurt about chaser and they got neutered.

Review with Myles Barlow is good and a lot darker and mean-spirited than the U.S. show.
>>
>>68080610
This. Don't watch Season 2 though. It sucks really hard. Season 1 is fucking amazing.
>>
>>68080520
only good one i've ever seen is danger 5

UK Kitchen Nightmares is a lot more comfy than the US version though.

I've heard some ridiculously thick Aussie accents and mine is fairly full on but NZ accents are downright silly at times.

thank you I will check this out.

also already have danger 5 (both seasons) downloaded.

also to the guy who posted the office uk... what do you think about the david brent movie coming out. I'm excited and there is no threads for it.

didn't know there was a difference between aussie and NZ dialects, been watching a few movies from each country and they sounded exactly the same

>Tfw they stopped making both Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell

I loved the absolute shit out of both the UK and US iterations. The only "reality tv" which didn't make you feel dirty and low just for watching.
>>
>>68080501
But the best part of the US show was the part at the end of episode when they did funny shit they couldn't figure out how they could work into scenes.
>>
>>68080682
I struggled to find Review from a decent source but it's on YouTube apparently
>>
>>68080520
The Big Lez Show. The full series is up on YouTube. I'm not sure if foreigners will get it, but it's next-level comedy.
>>

Imagine an Australian accent but instead of over-pronouncing vowels they're almost completely removed from words. That's the New Zealand accent. South Island NZ accent is even worse.

i noticed people couldn't pick the difference living abroad, I guess you've gotta be from either nation.

I work with an Kiwi, took me a solid month to understand what he was saying.
>>
>>68080787
Relies a bit too heavily on drug related humor. It's at its best when it pokes fun at Aussie culture imo
>>
>>68080802
This.

The repeating jokes got a bit much eventually, but I always laughed at the close-up handshakes.

Taking the piss out of Australia and the mean-spirited banter is something Australia excels at, it's a shame the TV here is garbage now. It always was I guess but there aren't those few gems raising the overall quality.
>>
They're different and both good in their own right (very rare for these types of shows, and entirely because they have the same actor playing Wilfred).

I prefer the AU version because US tried a lot harder, and was a lot more blatant with its humor. Americans are idiots i suppose.
