I think Rogue One will do well, just off the Star Wars title alone, but honestly? I'm really worried. I don't know what it is, but something in the trailer feels off.
And i say this as someone with no taste, as I enjoyed Green Lantern, the Prequels, and Batman vs Superman. Or in normie terms, I can generally enjoy a film even if it's not 'critically' good.
I really don't know what it is. Just a bad trailer, perhaps? I hated the how the Star Destroyer alarms didn't sound like I'm used to, and I think whatsherface who is playing the new lead will grate on me, but it was more than that. I also hope the CG is very early on thos AT-ATs because they look terrible.

Honestly, this trailer was shitloads better the TFA one and Rouge one already looks 100 times more interesting then the TFA ever looked for me. The lead girl, even though shown for all of one minuet, looks like a far more interesting character then Ray did in the whole movie.
Also, fucking Donny Yen, Forest Whitaker, and the Director that did the new Godzilla and helped on Pacific Rim.

I agree, TFA felt so fucking bland. I saw it and left the theater with a super meh feeling. Everything worked I thought, it was a big grand product. It did what it needed to, and that was re-introduce the world of Star Wars to a new audience in a way. Hopefully Rian Johnson brings something else to the next one. Star Wars 1977 is probably the most influential pop culture movie of all time, certainly in the top 5, and the new trilogy and rogue one are positioning themselves HARD as the heir to that film.
Disney are damn good at what they do. TFA received a very warm response from critics and obviously it broke the domestic record in the USA and became the 3rd highest grossing film of all time, 2nd if you don't include Titanic's re-releases.

Just "paying the bills" is basically a death sentence for a poorly reviewed franchise movies.
Biggest problem for me with anything Disney touches from their animated stuff through Marvel and SW is that it all feels like it was calculated by a committee to get maximum dollars. There isn't any creative spark behind the creation of any of it. Hate to be part of the problem but I'll probably end up seeing it anyway, the Christmas release means I'll not be at work and have nothing better to do.
