The Walking Dead is a show with the most goofs that are easily visible to pick up on while watching the live. And the writers you admire so much as professionals on the show aren't smart either with how convient everything turn out for the characters.

I remember enjoying the pilot so much, felt like a movie. I stuck it out through the end of season one, then bailed on the series.
I eventually caught parts of season two on Netflix. If not for Shane, that season would have been a complete disaster. But that's also a problem because even though he was a good character, he overstayed his welcome to keep season two afloat once Darabont bounced. I never bothered with the series after that.
It's a shame we never got the season two premiere that Frank had envisioned that got shot down by AMC. It's also a shame that HBO turned down a Darabont created version of TWD with Thomas Jane as Rick.

After watching 2/3 of the first season weekly, I resorted to binging whole seasons in a few (summer-) nights with weed and wine. Can't consume it (I mean the show) otherwise, but somehow can't NOT watch it either, because a few of my good friends really like it and it's nice to have another common topic to talk about sometimes.

This show is literally as formulaic as CBS procedurals. It's the exact same thing over and over again each season. Even the plebs don't like most of the episodes but still watch cause they're waiting for those death scenes and "shocking" moments. The writers know that they have the audience in the palm of their hand and have even said that they have no endgame for the story so we know for a fact that there will be no conclusion, or at least none that isn't shit.
This also means that because of the lack of story progression, the characters will be put in the same situations over and over again and will remain the boring, shitty people till the show dies off.
