Denis Villeneuve and Roger Deakins will save it. Maybe Ford too but apparently it is a small role he has.

Who do you guys think will do the soundtrack? In an ideal world it would be Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, I doubt Vangelis will come back

Replicant =/= Android

Replicants are biological in nature. Their parts are grown and put together, then their brain is programmed for specific tasks. They mirror humans near perfectly, utilizing a blank slate mind in combination with simple directives hard coded into their synapses. This permits them to learn and adapt to conditions, while hopefully avoiding the complications of morality and rebellion.

Obviously, this doesn't work and serves as the entire point of the concept.

Honestly, I'd prefer if Ford wasn't in this film. For starters Deckard was a replicant, and it'd be so much better off being a completely separate story. The movie (and I think it worked out for the better) left a lot of stuff from the book out, so there's plenty of stories to go for to explore PKD's world.

I like the idea of a movie based on the police station full of replicants who don't know they're replicants. Could be a really mindfuck movie.

I agree.

>Deckard was a replicant
Quite a lot of people still argue against this. Ultimately, in my opinion, it's left ambiguous, even in the Final Cut. In any case, I don't think it impacts the film's message nearly as much as some people insist - in fact, I think it doesn't matter at all in the end. Blade Runner asks questions and doesn't provide an answer.
>>
>>68012545
I never said it was going to be good, I said if it was done right it could be, and I don't think it's likely unless they get a competent team behind it

Deckard is a replicant. Gaff knows about the unicorn dream and leaves the unicorn origami outside his apartment.
Fun fact: Its speculated that Sebastian used the unicorn dream as a programming signature (there are unicorn statues and figures all over his workshop) and he tells Roy "Theres a little bit of me in you." He also dies before meeting Deckard.

it's the greatest movie ever made. not necessarily the best, but the greatest; and there is a difference.

like the other anon said, i think you might have missed a bit on robocop, and don't take this the wrong way but.. if you're missing huge elements from something like robocop you are going to be in trouble with blade runner, which is something that basically already requires rewatches anyway.

all of those people except Robin Wright ARE talentless hacks. they're just famous / "in" with the reddit crowd right now. certainly no better than a movie directed by Gareth Edwards starring Ben Mendelsohn and Mads Mikkelsen, and I'm sure you've already shitposted about that one many times this past few hours.

I like this idea.

Someone make me a shoop of Deckard with his fingers in his belt standing in front of the flying police car.

If Vangelis refuses to do it they should get Trent Reznor, Cliff Martinez or John Carpenter.

I usually don't pay attention to this shit but a huge part of the original Blade Runner was the music. Does it usually take this long for a studio to hire a composer? Will the composer not be revealed until production has begun?
>>
>>68023529
composers usually get their work done quick and after the movie is done so there's no rush but yes indeed it's quite worrying
>>
>>68023529
I'm pretty sure composing the score is one of the last things done on a movie
>>
Gos should be great.

i was so geeked when they unveiled the neckbeard model replicant. its crazy that they can actually play vidya like that.
>>
>>68023620
I know, what I'm asking is does it usually take the studio a while to choose a composer? Does it happen before or after the film is shot?

Come on /tv/, he's based as fuck and apparently will have the Ruther Hauer role of the movie

ERIC PRYDZ

Eric would be the perfect musician to make a score for this movie.

*Rutger
Whoops my bad
>>
>>68024102
Can he act? Rutger Hauer's incredible performance was one of the best parts of the original Blade Runner. His successor needs to be more than just a muscle bound thug.

He was amazing in Guardians Of the Galaxy and in the movie Heist. Other movies he's been the muscle role, but he is just really becoming a somewhat big star atm

He did a good job with Mad Max: Fury Road but he would be a terrible pick for Blade Runner 2. His bombastic style doesn't fit Blade Runner at all.
>>
>>68024257
Batista was the only good part (and the only reason) i watched GotG, he was good shit man so we know he can do comedy. he's a charismatic guy and i like him so i hope he can do serious roles too
>>

Depends what he has to do

He can most likely play a big silent thug man, but if he has actual serious lines, I don't know

"Wake up, time to die"

Jin-Roh (maybe, I don't know if that really counts)

Well based Harrison Ford wasn't enough to make Blade Runner good so...
>>
>>68027806

I saw the Akira anime but I don't really understand the praise it gets, possibly because I immediately spotted the parts where they'd have to cut parts from the manga just to keep the length reasonable. GoTS sure, the one movie I saw was pretty good, I might have to pick up SaC one day.

It's Indiana Jones 4 : Blade Runner addition, an additional film that NO ONE FUCKING wants except the greedy studio Jews.

I sure want to see an elderly Deckard wobbling about a poorly animated cgi city scape with poorly animated cgi cars flying around with poorly animated cgi replicants wandering around anywhere OH FUCKING BOY
>>
>>68030268
Villeneuve relies more on sets, locations and practical effects than CGI but he has never done a sci-fi film before. If he pulls a Nolan and insists everything be practical then it could be good, if he pulls a Lucas and insists everything CGI then it'll be shit.
>>
>>68030268
Ford wont be the main character obviously
