This. Poor Warners-DC they simply cannot adapt a superhero property other than Batman to a live action movie. That's in about 25 years (since Batman '89) of trying. Just abortion after abortion. Meanwhile Disney-Marvel climbed to the top of the global pop culture heap in about only 5 years.. Warner's doesn't seem to be able to do superheroes at some deep level in its corporate DNA. Here's the problem with BvS:
They focus on several characters and had many plots that come together in the end. There's a thematic reason for this but it asks to much of the audience.
The movie start with things at the middle and things are shown not only through dialogue, but acting, imagery and how scenes are set up. Again it asks too much of the audience.
It's a capemovie in setting but a tragedy in style and those don't even work as movies most of the time.
It deals with themes that people aren't comfortable dealing with and does so with famous superheroes.
