Seemed a bit too random at times. And, to be honest, I barely cared about any of the characters except for Grimly and Molly.

I wouldn't bother with season 2, then. Honestly episodes 2-6 are pretty bad, but things really pick up and it gets good for the remainder. It has aliens though, not even kidding. So if you are looking for serious look elsewhere.
First season was really good until the last two episodes. Second season was good up until the second half.

Season 2 is good and helps set up the Fargo universe, it also ties further back into the movie which is great. Can't wait for season 3. If you haven't seen the movie you really should do so.
