Some cut lines and scenes can be expected, but some movies literally go so far with showing stuff in the trailers that isn't in the movie that it could almost be considered false advertisment.
Go watch the trailers for shit like Amazing Spider-Man 2 and then the movie and realize how insanely much stuff didn't make it in.

There's actually some stuff from the trailers that aren't even in the EE. Like that shot of the elf chicks running in the woods and the shot of the mordor army marching, and elrond saying "I can't protect you anymore." and legolas shooting his bow before entering lothlorien.
