Objectively speaking, this is probably the best movie of the franchise so far.

Actually it didn't. I liked how the blaster shots left burn marks and felt more forceful, and how they used longer takes for some of the dogfights. The action was the best part of the movie.

Even if this were true, it wouldn't excuse this movie. If your movie relies on fan speculation, or after-the-fact explanation in the sequel, it's a bad movie. Besides, it's still not a satisfying character arc. Luke is extremely naturally talented in the force, but it took him three movies to understand and master it, which makes it all the more satisfying when he finally does start kicking ass in Jedi. We like to see characters reap the fruits of their labours - it doesn't work so well when they just get their License to Win handed to them.

1. OP doesn't say VII is better than IV he says its the best Star Wars. Also still Vader was pretty bad ass in IV. He was mysterious, he can choke a man, he killed Obi Wan in a duel, and he didn't know what he was all about because we didn't have scenes of him talking to himself or taking off his mask. They should have made Ren more of a mystery. And he sure as fuck didn't lose to an untrained Luke. We knew in IV that if Luke tried to duel him in that Death Star, Luke'd be dead. And in V we see Vader effortlessly chop off Luke's hand. Making the Duel in VI so much more intense.
2. She's basically a serf, who has never left the planet since she got there, yet can expertly fly the falcon against trained tie fighter pilots who unlike with Imperial soldiers were basically trained from birth to do what they do.
