Why don't they just make fantasy movies in full CG?

There are tons of good fantasy books/series which never got the big screen treatment because it'd be expensive and risky.
But with CG you don't need to build sets or hire big name actors, therefore keeping costs down. You can still offer a spectacle. Just keep churning out franchises until something hits big.
