>Batman vs Superman remains #1 in the box office with $52M in its second week

We did it! Fucking haters on suicide watch.
>>
You did what? Continued your slow descent into oblivion? Because nobody will care about this movie in a couple years? Because this movie, which easily could've been a cultural event, wasn't in any way, shape, or form, and was actually an embarrassment of film making?
>>
>69% drop with zero competition
>TANKING in foreign markets, beaten in China by Zootopia's fifth weekend

movie won't even break $900 million at this point.

DC BTFO!

This movie cost a bit over $600 million.
It needs to make over $1 billion worldwide to be considered a success. But it won't even make $800 million worldwide.

What a turd.

I'm going to fucking pirate and seed the movie to make sure people won't even get to rent it.
>>
>>67848619
>beaten in China by Zootopia's fifth weekend
What? How?
>>
>>67848560
People still talk about Man of Steel all the time, this movie will be the same. On the other hand, Age of Ultron was forgotten about by pretty much everyone within a month of its release.
>>
>>67848634
>This movie cost a bit over $600 million.
>It needs to make over $1 billion worldwide to be considered a success

These numbers go up every day
>>
>>67848702

This.

What even happened in that movie? Some gay robot wanted to kill everybody or something?
>>
>>67848560
Snyder single handedly elevated capeshit to the level of Greek tragedy. He may have wrecked the franchise, though. It was worth it.
>>
>>67848683
Because bombed in China so miserably
>>
>>67848702

like saying everyone still talks about Stalin and no one talks about John Major, yeah because one was just a bit boring and the other was one of the worst things to ever happen
>>
>>67848683
China actually knows the difference between kino and capeshit.

/tv/ could take some pointers from China.
>>
>>67848702
Was Man of Steel the one where Kevin Spacey yelled at Clark?
>>
>>67849093

China just loves robots. AoU was the only capemovie that has been a big success there
>>
>>67849076
Stalin> Major
>>
>>67849119
Exactly.
Mechkino is the one true kino.
>>
>>67849136
Stalin was a shit general though.
>>
>>67848317
It doesn't matter. In time people will realise the trailer contained the only minutes that were good in the movie.
>>
>>67848634
$250 million actually. Next.
>>
>>67848317
Didn't it make 500 mil its opening weekend?
Are we talking a fucking 90% drop here?
>>
>>67848634
>But it won't even make $800 million worldwide.

It only has to make another 100mil in 4 weeks until Civil War comes out. It will be fine unfortunately
>>
>>67849240
Anything less than a billion will be a disappointment to WB.

800 mil's the bare minimum.
>>
>>67849191
plus 150 mil in advertising.

That's 400 million. It needs a domestic 800 mil gross to break even, and just might barely make that.
>>
>>67849261

Another month anon with absolutely no competition. Why do you all care so much?
>>
>>67849292
>another month anon with absolutely no competition

About as much as it had this weekend.
52 mil is fucking laughable.
>>
>>67849292
Because if it's successful, then there's a possibility that such a fucking awful mess may end up becoming an established formula.
>>
>>67849291
>It needs a domestic 800 mil gross to break even
>Domestic 800

So it needs to be in the top 5 successful movies of all time to break even? /tv/ has gone fucking mad
>>
>>67848317
Yay! Check out >>67848944 for a theory on Lex's actual plan. It's just my best stab at putting together all the clues they gave us(and assumes he really is the psychopath Lois claims he is).
>>
>>67849331
No, WB has by pouring so fucking much money into a fucking Zach Snyder project.

The fact is this shitshow was monumentally expensive. It literally could not afford such a substantial drop.
>>
Sincere thought.

Were DC fans serious about this movies possible success? And being better than Marvel
>>
>>67849469
Denial hit very fucking hard.
DCucks finally went insane when they started believing their interpretations of the fucking trainwreck they witnessed were artistic symbolism.
>>
>>67849469

The movie seemed to have a lot of promise. The opening weekend was good and if the film itself delivered it would be raking it in
>>
>>67849469
Look, as someone who's enjoyed Marvel's films and have every intention of continuing to do so, I'll say this:

Marvel produces a solid popcorn flick, occasionally rising to excellence with such films as "The Winter Soldier," but not one of their films tackles matters as cerebral as MoS and BvS, nor do they demand as much from their audience. They're very different sorts of films, though rooted in the same genre.

Challenge yourself.
>>
>>67849604
>BvS had some symbolism that means it's deep and challenging!

Every message BvS shat out has been done before, far more effectively, by directors who actually knew what the fuck they were doing.
>>
>>67849331
You can't argue with autism anon. And this place is full of it
>>
>>67849604
But there's no point in tackling them if it's done by someone on the mental level of a school child.
There is nothing challenging about either Snyder movies, they're surface level shit.
>>
>>67849756
Really? Tell me what it was intended to convey.
>>
>>67849756
Explain Lex's motivations if it's all so simple. I found it, and it's entirely consistent with the source material.
>>
>>67849980
Lex literally explains his own fucking motivation to Superman and the audience for no reason.

Which is terrible writing 101.
>>
>>67850043
So we take what the villain says at face value now, even when it's absolutely counter to his intentions to reveal them? Here's some hints:

Why a flamethrower?

Why force the fight between Batman and Superman?

Why not only track metahumans, but create stylized icons for their data files?

Why release Doomsday?

They were all part of a plan, but it's foiled by Superman doing what Lex couldn't anticipate, because although he refers at various times to Clark as both a god and a devil, he's one of the only characters that not only thinks of him as a man, he also thinks that he's no different at the fundamental level than Lex himself.
>>
>>67848317
What else are normies going to watch so they can talk about it at work? They already saw star wars...
>>
>>67850143
>Why not only track metahumans, but create stylized icons for their data files?

Oh, and also, if you've obtained credible evidence of supherhumans in a world that doesn't know they exist, why sit on that information instead of securing your place in the history books by being the man to prove the in-world "metahuman hypothesis?"
>>
>>67850143
Mostly because of bad writing.

All of Lex actions line up with what he says, even though his so called plan relies on so many variables falling in place that the biggest deciding factor is dumb luck and Batman and Superman both being slightly retarded.

It all comes back to his spiel about "If god is all powerful..." and "The bittersweet pain among men is having knowledge with no power because..."

It's not subtext, it's just plain text.
>>
>>67850294
Yeah that or, to quote Robert Browning's "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came":

"My first thought was that he lied in every word."

Early on, we're shown Lex saying things that he knows to be inaccurate in an attempt to sway Senator Finch, playing on superstitions that he does not himself harbor.

Take that in conjunction with >>67848944 and tell me that all the pieces don't fit.
>>
It's over, God Is Not Dead 2 is FINISHED!
>>
>>67848317

Literally nothing of note opened against it, yet it dropped nearly 70% in the second weekend. That's terrible. If it had competition, it would have been buried.

>>67850357
The point is that in every way this is one of the least interesting motives for Lex to have.

A petty inferiority complex.
>>
>>67850357
What comes after his plan goes to shit is still a bit weak, but the rest is pretty solid. Lois calls him a psychopath, and he replies that that's just a three-syllable word for ideas to big for small minds. In other words, Lex thinks that when people label someone a psychopath, most especially in reference to him, they're just intellectually inferior, when, in truth, he really is a psychopath, albeit a very intelligent one.

He believes that at his core, Clark is just like him - a powerful man who "does good" only to serve his own ego and public image. The thought of someone acting in a truly selfless manner is an alien concept to him, At best, anyone not acting explicitly in their own self-interest is stupid, if not insane.

>with no opponent

KEK
That's like saying: "I'm so good at cards, nobody can beat me at Solitaire."
>>
>>67850357
That plan would have worked, save one problem:

Superman's not a psychopath and is actually on the road to becoming a real hero, a real symbol of hope.
>>
>>67850582
They already fucked up.

The most interesting Luthor isn't a selfish child. He's a man worried about the future of humanity and where following Superman will lead it.
There's nothing about Luthorberg that hints at being after more than self-gratification.

It's really true that he has more in common with Joker or Riddler in that regard.
>>
>>67850568
What film?
>>
>>67850675
That version of Lex is a rather recent re-invention, though. This one is, mannerisms aside, more akin to the Lex from the Byrne era, which was kicked off, appropriately enough, by a miniseries entitled "Man of Steel."
>>

>>
>>67850753
Another thing that keeps worrying me:

With the Flash realizing he's "too soon," everything bit of cryptic info he passed on could just serve to guarantee the very future they were trying to prevent. Dat time travel's some tricky shit. Just ask Booster Gold.
>>
>>67850870
I'm not going to lie to you. I vastly prefer a great plan that failed to a shit one that falls flawlessly into place like we get in most films.

Are capeshitters the most pathetic humans alive?
>>
>>67850675
I've noticed, though, that this version of Superman is very much concerned with that very thing. He's worried that people are already just waiting on "the man in the sky" to come save them.

>dat flood scene
>>
>>67851041
bravo aynder
>>
>>67851053
I know. It's actually quite deftly-handled. Plebs look at that scene and say "lol man in sky 2deep4u."

Patricians look at that same scene and think, "That's pretty damn good. A man struggling to be accepted as nothing more than a man when the environment and his very nature nature conspire to present him as a god, and all conveyed while pundits talk about humanity struggling to find its place in the wake of the paradigm shift."

It truly is the cape filter.
>>
>>67851188
It makes us better than all the huddled masses of the lower audiences who can't understand such lofty imagery that could only have been carefully hidden away in plain sight by a true genius- of whom we are fellows.

He doesn't make point about not ever wanting to have to salute to a false dictator.

The main motivation I saw with Luthor was that he thought that superman being greater than man was inherently bad, much like the comic you posted. The difference between him and Bruce is Bruce wants superman dead because he thinks that the possibility for someone as powerful as superman to turn evil is too much to risk, where as Lex sees superman being powerful as evil, regardless of what he does with that power. He even explicitly states there's no such thing as innocent power.

Bruce sees the potential for superman to become and evil "god", lex just sees "gods" (read: anyone more powerful than him) as evil inherently.

It fits the analogy of Bruce representing man being wary of god due to what god can do, and lex being the devil envious of god because what god is
