I do feel like I'm being overly harsh, but I honestly feel like he had the perfect script yet still butchered it every time he tried to recreate scenes word for word (like this is a fault of the actors being wooden) and when he deviated from the comic it was like, "huh"? (like when rorschach cleaved the child rapist's head in two, and pretty much have him confess to the crime. Whereas in the comic it's a bit more ambiguous and the way he goes about killing him is more impactful, not to mention it omits his dialogue on why he became rorschach and what changed him.
