Historical movies call to the heart of the Anglo. Jews know this so they supress our history and only give us historical movies that make us hate ourselves

the difference, faggot, is that our "contrarian" views are grounded in evidence, as shown above, whereas your mocking and rejection of us is based purely on assumption, irrelevant stereotypes, and emotive response.

here are some just from the past 10 years, films that were nominated for Best Picture or were otherwise notable enough to show up on most lists about historical films from the last decade.

The Revenant
Brooklyn
Bridge of Spies
Trumbo
The Danish Girl
Carol
The Imitation Game
12 Years a Slave
Les Miserables
Lincoln
The Artist
The Help
War Horse
The King's Speech
True Grit
Inglorious Basterds
The Reader
Atonement
Letters from Iwo Jima
Good Night and Good Luck
The Black Dahlia
The Good German
Fury
Flags of Our Fathers
The Great Raid
Valkyrie
Red Tails
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
The Way Back
Race (coming out this year)
Flyboys
A Dangerous Method
The Young Victoria
Marie Antoinette
The Duchess
Belle
Casanova
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
The Other Boleyn Girl
Kingdom of Heaven

That's not including lesser known films, tv films, indies, or films that otherwise don't usually show up in "historical films from the 2000s" lists.

Does Hollywood do *as many* historical films as they used to in the past? No. But they still do them, and there are usually at least 3-4 each year that end up being nominated or otherwise noted for something or other.

this is coming out soon. about as historical as gladiator.
>>
>>67815143
Uh, honey? I have news for you. Historical films are films which are set in a historical time period. The movie is set in the 19th century. That makes it a historical film. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is set in a specific time period as well (with specific characters who place it in that time period, such as the king) so yes, if someone made a film adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and kept the book's time period in tact, it would be a historical film.
>>
>>67815592

I think OP is actually asking for more swords and sandals flicks and just worded his post poorly...
>>
>>67813033
I think he meant historical fiction, period pieces, whatever. They aren't necessarily true to events, but try to create a story in a recreation of the times.
>>
>>67813005

Because the historical events important enough to warrant their own movie tend to be overwhelmingly white and male, which is le problematic.
>>
>>67815592
>>67815721

Nice you took the time to do that but it's obvious OP basically just wants shit like Gladiator and Braveheart.

The novel is historical fiction. If a film stays true to the novel's setting, then that film is a historical film.

>>
>>67816524
>When people say "history movies" they don't mean a movie that took place 50 years ago. Christ.

Golly! I'm sorry for not being a mind reader and only listing the specific historical movies that "people" (aka OP, since those films are on lists of historical movies) have in mind. Something that happened in the 1940s-50s, and now that we're in the 2010s the 60s is gradually being included as well, is considered historical at this point. Sorry that it makes you feel old, though.
>>
>>67816637
Why isn't it? Explain with an actual argument. Or go back to waiting furiously for the Walking Dead finale and leave us in peace.

Because it's cheaper to just make stoner comedies and romcoms. Historical films are very high risk. A lot of studios went bankrupt by just one bad film in the 60s.

>>67813005
Minority audiences don't care about European history, and white audiences don't care about non-European history unless its biblical stuff.

Biblical shit another minefield but I'm counting Exodus in the same class of movie-making as Cleopatra/Ben-Hur whatever.
>>
>>67816621

>>
>>67813005
Good question, it's easier than ever since they can make everything with CGI instead of having to deal with the logistics of location shoots and set building.
>>
>>67816776
This. They're crazy expensive and not a surefire hit

However, ancient historical epics were dead between the late 60s and mid 90s-00s, where they faded from relevancy again, even if they are still made. They could always have another resurgence, but it would require some fresh ideas and voices and not just redoing Gladiator over and over
>>
Is the Ridley Scott Egypt movie good? I remember people shitting on it but I think it's because they felt obligated about the casting to feel offended like a bunch of crybabies.
