Doctor Strange, Marvel's premiere superhero/wizard. More wizard than superhero, really. He mostly deals with mystical stuff like demons, Lovecraftian horrors, and invasions from other realities. In his old stories, he was usually solo dealing with threats that would make the Avengers shit their pants. He's extremely powerful, capable of time travel, teleportation, illusions, travel between dimensions, astral projection, and creating massive energy blasts and forcefields, among other stuff, but his villains are usually more powerful still.

I don't know. I've never read any. I'm just going by the Casting, Design, and what has been said about the movie so far. It all sounds pretty good. And I like this new "wizard direction".
Plus, Marvel Studios is basically synonymous with "quality" at this point. They care about making a decent movie. I highly doubt they would put at a bad movie at this point. It would hurt their brand too much. If they made a movie that was legit shit, they could just re-do it all and postpone release, they have that luxury.
The worse case scenario for Marvel studios is what? A 7/10 Movie (audience and critics). That's pretty decent. It's hard for people not to get hyped for Marvel at this point.
