Hey /tv you don't know me but I've been browsing this board since college. Recently I received an opportunity of a life time to go from writing shitty independents to being on the main writing staff for Suicide Squad. My uncle is very close to David Ayer who I've met a few times growing up and he was happy to take me on board.
When I joined the script was basically done, it was just making hundreds of adjustments for story, scene, budget etc etc. I helped make some massive improvements to the original script and some certain parts are even written by just me including an infamous line in the trailer.
I'm having a AMA because these fucking re shoots have had all of us on our asses, on set every day fucking trying to shovel in comedic bullshit. Comedy is a fine art and hard to structure into a script initially let alone jam it into what was originally supposed to be a brutally amazing dark film. Ask away, none of the other writers are young enough to even know what 4chan is.

Most people expected the reaction, it's setting up the justice league really quickly so they can compete with Marvel. Sadly, that reaction didn't cause these rewrites but it did make them more rushed and intense they they were.
Re shoots haven't necessarily killed the movie but they've killed what it was which we all thought was better but thats just the nature of massive films like this with huge companies sticking their fingers in for the profits.
Carla is actually fucking brilliant at her character, I really liked getting to see her act in her more solo/personal moments because in the full squad scenes she takes a back seat
Margot is fucking so nice but she's like a stagnant version of tara strong's harley from the games.
Main baddie is supposed to be Batman but he doesn't present himself as a powerful threat, like the squad goes from thinking they can kill him instantly to being terrified except for the joker who doesn't arc against batman much at all.
