The first few series are pretty much gold from start to finish. IMO things got worse when they put out that movie (the one where they steal an ATM machine, I think) and kept the series going afterwards
I stopped watching not long after that, and all I've heard since is that it ain't as good as it used to be
As soon as Corey and Trevor are gone you can stop.
Everything's canon, but the plot mostly moves in a circle each season. It's just that the circles are slightly different each season. Nevertheless it's pretty great overall.

Seconded. The 7th season with the Swayze Express stuff is a bit corny. The Netflix seasons 8-10 are alright, but they still have their moments. Ricky flinging old piss jugs into the trailer park with a catapult had me on the floor.
