I do not like our movies, but, Cheiro do Ralo e Auto da Compadecida are awesome.

A tip for you, there is an italian-brazilian movie called Estomago that is simple incredible.

I do not know the last two movies of your list.
>>
>>67669507
I'm from France, but French cinema, old or new, disgusts me. I can't stand all the pretentious eternal new wave going on.

I think I've seen all of refn's work. Didn't like all of it though but I think he's getting better and better and I'm pretty hyped for neon demon.

I've watched many french films. I don't like it because I don't like old black and white cinema. It's just not my taste, I think it's shit. From my point of view, for someone to enjoy watching this old, slow, boring, badly acted stuff in 2016 they must have some sado-masochistic issues and should consult ASAP.
New French "cinema" is stuck in an eternal new wave, always filming the same feel good moralist shit in appartements or cafes, bad acting, nothing valuable.

Don't take me wrong but here are the variables upon which I judge a film: actuality, amount of risk taken and general quality in performances, cinematography, soundtrack.
Actuality and risk are very important to me so if a film is made today but it could have been made 10 years ago (not talking about CGI, talking about relevance to the time it's made in) and takes zero risk, it's shit.

There are like 5 french films that I consider slighly interesting, like gaspard noe's work (irreversible, enter the void, and his first film of which I've forgotten the name which was not bad) and amelie poulain (mediocre to good) and Jeux D'Enfant (ok)

appart from that, I found value in nothing.

Yes I've seen some renoir, bresson when I was younger, but, for the reasons stated above, they find no redemption in my eyes.

im not sure im willing to read all of this when it starts off with ' I don't like it because I don't like old black and white cinema.'

how can you think pic related is shit
>>
>>67670218
>how can you think pic related is shit

Like I said, to me, the actuality of a movie is very important. I can understand that people liked these things when they came out, but for me, to watch it today would be an act of self hurt.

The bottom point of my post was that I judge a movie on 3 factors: actuality, amount of risk taken and overall quality of performances (acting, cinematography, soundtrack). That's my way of looking at films, though, I don't ask anyone to do the same.
>>
>>67670218
watcha mean general? tried my best to find as many australian films that hav seen and know.

what do you think of ramsay's shorts?
>>67666176
look into the experimental stuff mane
>>
>>67670508
make me.
My opinion is final and it is the only one which I respect. That's the motto of any true patrician. You just hide your shallowness in the general consensus of what is "good". You're nothing more than a mental slave, acting as what your perceived superiors command you.

i would say gasman is my favorite for many reasons but the ones i've seen are great

i had a lecture on 'little is more' and her short gasman, that was amazing
>>
>>67670668
nice, gasman has always been a favorite of mine
if you're into shorts like that from mex, look into Cuevas and Fuentes for more modern experimental stuff, weirdly enough, girls are the ones running the underground avant garde movement here

As a french, i find that most good french movies are comedies, especially if you don't like new wave.
>>67670180
Judging by this post i guess you're mainly talking about 'parisian' films. I kinda agree with you if it's the case, most of it are meh.

>>67668787
The fact that i don't read french news about movie probably doesn't help. Any recs about french movies / directors ?
>>
>>67672771
>parisian' films

that's 96% of the film industry in france.
>>
>>67672854
I have my own version of parisian film, which is that the film is set in paris, the acting seems weird, there seems to be no scenario ( so it looks very new wave ) and the dialogue is so heavily scripted that it doesn't feel natural at all.
>>
>>67673498
there's some truth to that.
You forgot the most important aspect though: the film is moralist and will basically explain to you how to be a better human, because obviously you're dumb and you need the director to enlighten you about what is the proper way to behave in society.
